Breaking through with “Monsters” which led to the “Godzilla” reboot and this year’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” filmmaker Gareth Edwards appears to be getting back around to another project he’s had in the works and had hoped to make it as his “Monsters” follow-up.
Speaking with Slashfilm, Edwards’ co-partner on the film is “Wanted” director Timur Bekmambetov says he’s hopeful Edwards’ earlier project – once titled “Forever” – will get made: “It was the next project he wanted to make. He’s busy now with these big, giant movies, but I hope we’ll make it. I thought it was a very cool, very warm story.”
The story is said to follow a young child and a robot on a galaxy-spanning journey in search of mankind’s origin in a world void of humanity and filled with robots, but the script is reportedly still being figured out.
Once wrapping “Rogue One,” Edwards is already set to direct the “Godzilla” sequel so no word on when this could see the light of day.
