HBO’s big-budget fantasy series “Game of Thrones” returned to screens on Sunday where it smashed another ratings record.
The premiere grossed an initial 10.7 million viewers for both its initial airing, two encores and streaming viewership – up by 0.4 million on its previous record held by the finale of the fifth season last year.
A more accurate audience tally is several weeks away though as HBO declines to report ratings before comprehensive live-plus-seven day returns. The fifth season averaged just north of 20 million viewers per episode in full results.
