With less than a week to go, HBO has begun airing a new ‘event promo’ for the ten episode sixth season of its big budget fantasy drama “Game of Thrones,” you can check that commercial out below.
Those involved with the series have been hitting the press circuit hard this week. Even though HBO has denied any plans for a spin-off, author George R.R. Martin tells EW he already has the source material – a trio of novellas set 90 years before events in ‘Thrones’ – and an ideal way to do it:
“The most natural follow-up would be an adaptation of my ‘Dunk & Egg’ stories. Each of the novellas could easily be done as a two-hour stand-alone movie for television; that would probably be the ideal way to do them, rather than as an ongoing weekly series. ‘The Hedge Knight’ and its sequels are lighter [in tone] than ‘A Song of Ice and Fire,’ more in the realm of action/adventure.”
The books center on Ser Duncan the Tall, later a member of the Kingsguard, and his squire Egg who becomes King Aegon V Targaryen. The premiere of the new season of ‘Thrones’ airs on April 24th.
