Game News: Mass, Remasters, Delays, Promos

Mass Effect 4
Industry insider Ahsan Rasheed suggests the fourth film in the “Mass Effect” game series will not go by a number. Instead it could be “Mass Effect: Contact”.

This suggests a prequel set around the First Contact War – a three-month conflict between the human Systems Alliance and the Turian Hierarchy. The fallout from which included the ultimate formation of Cerberus. [Source: DualShockers]

Industry insider Shinobi602 says last year’s PS3 game “God of War: Ascension” is coming to PS4, though may not score a retail disc release (only PSN).

Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckmann tells EDGE Magazine that the PS4 remastered version of “The Last of Us” will have character models on par with the PS3 version’s cutscenes. There’s also improved lighting, higher-res textures, and cinematics at 1080p and 60fps – hopefully gameplay as well.

Two major games have just scored half-year delays. First up the open world zombie survival game “Dying Light” has been pushed back to February 2015. According to a statement, the delay allows them to realise the “Natural Movement element” that they claim will change the genre. It also eliminates any cross-format compromises that would’ve had to have been made.

The other is “The Elder Scrolls Online” which is already out on PC and Mac, but its console release has been pushed back by six months from the proposed June release. Bethesda says the delay is due to “a series of unique problems” specific to the console versions and their respective online networks.
