With Doug Liman having signed on to helm the “Justice League Dark” project for Warner Bros. Pictures, Heat Vision has confirmed that Liman is no longer directing the “X-Men” spin-off feature “Gambit”.
Channing Tatum remains attached to star in the film though and insiders tell the trade the studio is still intent on starting production in January. Josh Zetumer remains onboard as the film’s writer.
Liman’s exit is said to be a “mutual parting of ways” and a search is already underway for a new director to tackle the story of the New Orleans-based mutant with the power of kinetic energy manipulation.
Liman signed onto the project in October last year after the departure of Rupert Wyatt. The film has already seen its start date pushed back by well over a year with script rewrites said to be a recurring issue.
Simon Kinberg, Tatum and Reid Carolin are also still onboard as producers.
