Gallenberger Helms India-Set “Narcissus”

Florian Gallenberger (“John Rabe,” “Shadows of Time”) will next direct an adaptation of Herman Hesse’s medieval tale “Narcissus and Goldmund” for Claussen+Woebke+Putz Filmproduktion reports Variety.

A romantic drama set in India that spans sixty years, “Narcissus” follows the lives of two friends set against turbulent historical events such as the plague and constant war.

Gallenberger is penning the adaptation and hopes to have it finished by year’s end, with a possible production start next year. Gallenberger tried unsuccessfully to obtain rights to the novel nearly a decade ago.
