Though a noted comedian beforehand, it was “The Hangover” films that launched Zach Galifianakis into stardom. This week, out doing promotion for his new FX series “Baskets,” the actor spoke fairly bluntly about the series and confirmed pretty much what we all feel – that they should have stopped after the first one.
Speaking with Marc Maron for his WTF podcast (via Yahoo UK, Galifianakis says: “Look, that was a good chunk of my life that I do not regret at all, but I wished we had just done one. I think leave well enough alone sometimes.”
He then went on to joke: “We’re contracted up to 12. I feel a real appetite out there for more. I mean, in ten years when all this dries up, I’m sure I’ll be knocking on people’s doors, ‘Hey, I got this idea… look, I’m still weird!'”
Despite the critical lambasting, the two “Hangover” sequels raked in almost $1 billion worldwide.
