“Wonder Woman” actress Gal Gadot is closing talks to both star in and executive produce a Showtime limited series about film actress and inventor Hedy Lamarr.
Though a film star from the late 1930s to the 1950s, the incredibly resourceful Austrian-born actress also helped develop a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes during the Second World War, one that used spread spectrum and frequency hopping technology. Much of the principles of their work formed the basis of technology today including Bluetooth, Wifi and GPS.
The project hails from “The Affair” co-creator/executive producer Sarah Treem and “The Handmaid’s Tale” producer Warren Littlefield with Treem in talks to pen the entire series. Jaron Varsano will also executive produce.
