Gal Gadot (“Fast Five,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”) and Pedro Pascal (“Game of Thrones”) are in talks to play the female lead and Pontius Pilate respectively in the reboot of “Ben-Hur” at MGM Pictures.
Jack Huston plays the title character who is betrayed by his former best friend (Toby Kebbell) and sold into slavery. Morgan Freeman also stars.
Gadot will play a slave named Esther whom Ben-Hur falls for. Pascal’s Pontius Pilate plays an important part in the story which includes a parallel storyline involving Jesus Christ.
Timur Bekmambetov directs from a screenplay by Keith R. Clarke and John Ridley. The film is aiming to be a more faithful adaptation the original Lew Wallace novel than the 1959 film adaptation starring Charlton Heston.
Shooting begins in Europe early next year ahead of a February 2016 release.
