Gadot On The Strength Of “Wonder Woman”

One of the most anticipated elements of next month’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has to be Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, the first time the character has made it to the big screen.

In a new chat with Glamour magazine, Gadot has spoken about the role, revealing that she gained around 17 pounds of muscle for it and explained that the main thing that she wanted to bring was the sense that the character’s femininity would not be sacrificed or short changed:

“For BvS it was important for me that we show how independent she is. She is not relying on a man, and she’s not there because of a love story. She’s not there to serve someone else. She has so many strengths and powers, but at the end of the day she’s a woman with a lot of emotional intelligence. She’s loving. And it’s all her heart – that’s her strength. I think women are amazing for being able to show what they feel. I admire women who do. I think it’s a mistake when women cover their emotions to look tough. I say let’s own who we are and use it as a strength.”

Speaking of ‘Dawn’, a new marketing video tie-in has gone up with stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill engaging in some sniping banter… and it’s as awkward as it sounds. The film itself opens March 25th.
