FXX has announced an April 25th premiere date for “Archer: Danger Island,” the ninth season of its animated spy comedy series.
The new season finds Sterling Archer (H. Jon Benjamin) as a semi-functioning alcoholic seaplane pilot on the lush South Pacific island of Mitimotu in 1939. Archer must navigate quicksand, cannibals, super-intelligent monkeys, poison darts and pirates in this dangerous and mysterious land.
In the new season Pam is his trusty co-pilot, Lana is island royalty and revolutionary Princess Lanaluakalani, Mallory is the hotel owner (and still Archer’s mother), Cheryl is abandoned heiress Charlotte Vandertunt, Ray is well-groomed French Capitaine Reynaud, Cyril is an obvious undercover Germany spy named Siegbert Fuchsthe, and Krieger has become the scarlet macaw Crackers.
This marks the second last season of the series, which won the 2016 Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program and has been nominated the past four years.
