FXX Scraps Plans For “Cassius And Clay” Series

FX has decided not to proceed with its animated comedy series “Cassius And Clay”.

Ordered to pilot in May and then picked up to series with a ten-episode order in August, the aim was to pair the project with the seventh season of “Archer” – a not unsurprising pairing as ‘Clay’ was co-created by “Archer” creator/showrunner Adam Reed.

That is no longer the case. Whilst there has been talk of ‘Clay’ being redeveloped, FX execs ultimately have decided not to go forward with the series.

The show starred Kaitlin Olson as Cassius and Lake Bell as Clay, bandits looking to survive in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic American South. Susan Sarandon, JB Smoove, Kevin Michael Richardson, Jeffrey Tambor, Stephen Root, Katy Mixon and Robert Patrick were also set to lend their voices to the series.

No additional episodes were produced beyond the pilot, and there’ no word if said pilot will end up online at any point for people to consider what might have been. The news comes as FX just ordered a new animated comedy pilot featuring and produced by both Louis C.K. and Albert Brooks.
