FX’s “Trust” Teases “All the Money” Rival

Along with awards consideration, the other big reason that Ridley Scott is so determined to get his new film “All The Money In The World” into cinemas next month is to beat Danny Boyle’s “Trust,” the new TV series on FX which explores the Getty family dynasty and which has just released its first trailer.

The first season will deal with the 1973 kidnapping of John Paul Getty III, heir to the billion-dollar Getty oil fortune and the same event that ‘Money’ focuses on. Subsequent seasons of “Trust,” should they go forward, are said to explore latter periods in the family history.

“Trust” has Simon Beaufoy (“Slumdog Millionaire”) penning the script and stars Donald Sutherland as John Paul Getty, Hilary Swank as the kidnapped boy’s mother Gail Getty, “Beach Rats” breakout star Harris Dickinson as the kidnapped Paul, and Brendan Fraser as Getty family fixer James Fletcher Chace. These are the roles Christopher Plummer, Michelle Williams, Charlie Plummer and Mark Wahlberg respectively play in ‘Money’.

“Trust” is scheduled to premiere in January on FX.
