Futurama Cancelled Yet Again

Comedy Central has decided not to renew animated comedy “Futurama,” effectively ending the series with the upcoming final thirteen episodes kicking off on June 19th (and wrapping September 4th).

Airing 72 episodes from 1999-2003 on Fox, the show was cancelled and then revived thanks four direct-to-disc movies in 2008 and 2009.

The success of those movies, and reruns on Adult Swim, led to Comedy Central picking up the series for a further 52 episodes which kicked off again in 2010.

Though it began again in 2010 to solid ratings of 2.6 million viewers, that figure declined to 1.7 million in 2012.
