A full twenty-one actors from the original “Wet Hot American Summer” feature are set to be joined by nine more actors for Netflix’s upcoming TV series prequel to the cult 2001 comedy.
New faces joining the series include Michaela Watkins, Josh Charles, John Slattery, Randall Park, Lake Bell, Jayma Mays, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, and Richard Schiff.
Their roles are said to be as follows: “Watkins will play a tough New Yorker, Charles is a guy from a rival camp, Huebel’s a rival professor to Pierce, Schiff is Pierce’s academic superior, Park’s a librarian in love with Shannon, and Scheer is a journalist.”
Pretty much every actor is set to return from the original including Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Banks, Amy Poehler, H. Jon Benjamin, Michael Ian Black, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Nina Hellman, Ken Marino, Zak Orth, David Hyde Pierce, Joe LoTruglio, Christopher Meloni, A.D. Miles, Marguerite Moreau, Marisa Ryan, Molly Shannon, Kevin Sussman, and David Wain.
This is achievable as the plan for working around the cast’s busy schedules involves including only a few actors per scene, and some of these roles are likely to be cameos.
As previously reported, this is a prequel – despite the fact that many of the cast members playing teens and young adults are well into middle age.
