Following a brief tease a few months back, the full trailer has now been released for “Sicario: Day of the Soldado,” the follow-up to Denis Villeneuve’s intense 2015 drug cartel drama.
Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro reprise their roles with the latter’s assassin Alejandro being hired again by CIA operative Matt Graver (Brolin) to start a war between duelling cartels by kidnapping Isabela Reyes (Isabela Moner), the teenage daughter of infamous kingpin Carlos Reyes.
When the mission is exposed, and Graver orders Alejandro to terminate Isabela, the killer’s cold facade cracks. Stefano Sollima helms the film which boasts a script by Taylor Sheridan which is said to be even more brutal than the first. “Sicario: Day of the Soldado” opens June 29th.
