Fukunaga’s “Maniac” Series Sets A Start Date

An August 15th start date has been set for “Maniac,” the upcoming high-profile TV series starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill.

Filmmaker Cary Fukunaga, who stunned the world with his work on the entire first season of HBO’s “True Detective,” will helm all ten episodes of the straight-to-series dark comedy based on the 2014 Norwegian series.

The story revolves around the fantasy worlds of Hill and Stone’s characters, who in real life are confined to a mental institution. Stone and Hill reportedly met last week to discuss the series and Paramount chairman Brad Grey got personally involved to help work out scheduling.

The shoot will take place in New York City and run from mid-August and wrap just before Thanksgiving in late November. Paramount TV and Anonymous Content produce the series.
