Fukunaga Wont Do Anymore Maniac

Netflix premiered its new original series “Maniac” on Friday, the first directorial effort of acclaimed filmmaker and “True Detective: Season One” helmer Cary Fukunaga in four years. The dark comedy stars Emma Stone and Jonah Hill as two lost souls who search for connection while they are patients in a pharmaceutical trial.

Fukunaga, who was officially announced as the director of the next James Bond film the other day, spoke with Variety and says he will not return if the series gets a second season:

“For me, I like to do one and move onto something else. I’d be very happy if another season were to happen, but I think they were just thinking about this as a limited season and if there’s an appetite for another one then I think [show creator] Patrick [Somerville] would be happy to take it up and do it again. But not with me.”

Reviews for “Maniac” are quite strong, the show garnering a 76/100 on Metacritic.
