Walt Disney Pictures has released some more details regarding the “Frozen” sequel following the full trailer release earlier this week reports THR.
Disney showed off some of the first full footage at the Annecy Animation Festival this week and in the process dropped some story details including the big reveal that the new film takes place three years after the events of the first.
Head of animation Becky Bresee and head of effects Marlon West were on hand to discuss it and confirm the main thrust of the story is the question of why was Elsa born with her powers?
Bresee: “It’s an evolution and an expansion of the story of Frozen, and many of the questions raised in the first movie become the mysteries that our gang are trying to solve in this film.”
West: “[It’s] about two sisters trying to stay together while the world tries to tear them apart,” added West.”
Scenes were also shown off at the festival, one in which Elsa hears a haunting sound in the forest, and another showing Elsa’s father discussing “a tale of a battle that happened in the forest long ago when the spirits of the forest faced off against the people of the kingdom.” Another scene has characters playing charades together though Elsa is distracted because she cannot stop hearing the cries from the forest.
“Frozen II” opens in cinemas everywhere on November 22nd.
