Oscar-nominated “Hidden Figures” and “Christopher Robin” scribe Allison Schroeder has been tapped to pen the script for the film adaptation of Mojang’s popular world-creation video game “Minecraft” for Warner Bros. Pictures.
The story follows a teenage girl and her unlikely group of adventurers who, after the malevolent Ender Dragon sets out on a path of destruction, must save their beautiful, blocky Overworld.
Mojang, who released the game, will produce with Roy Lee and Jon Berg. Various people have been attached to this adaptation over the years as potential helmers including Shawn Levy and Rob McElhenney.
Peter Sollett (“Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist”) helms the project which Roy Lee and Jon Berg are producing, with the film currently set for release on March 4th 2022. Schroeder also co-wrote the upcoming “Frozen” sequel with Jennifer Lee.
