Disney’s animated “Frozen 2” pulled in a most impressive $8.5 million in Thursday night previews at the U.S. box-office last night – that’s the biggest preview number since “Joker” snagged $13.3 million in previews in early October.
The studio is buoyed by stellar early reactions for “Frozen 2” which indicates this isn’t a film that disappoints, and it has pulled in an impressive 94% Rotten Tomatoes score so far.
The original “Frozen” launched on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving in 2013 and set a holiday record with a five-day take of $93 million.
Also opening are “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” and “21 Bridges” which earned $900,000 and $700,000 from their Thursday previews.
The North American box office currently trails last year by 6.7%, with $9.71 billion as of November 20th.
