Fresnadillo Helms “Bioshock” Film

Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (“28 Weeks Later”) is in talks to direct the video game adaptation “Bioshock” for Universal Pictures reports Variety.

“Bioshock” takes place in the underwater city of Rapture, where a pilot crash-lands near a secret entrance and becomes involved in a power struggle.

“Pirates of the Caribbean” director Gore Verbinski was originally attached to helm the project but had to withdraw when filming moved abroad to bring down the $160 million budget.

Verbinski’s commitment to the animated film “Rango” with Johnny Depp meant that he gave up the director’s chair but remains attached to produce.
