FremantleMedia Picks Up Gaiman’s “Gods”

FremantleMedia North America has acquired screen rights to Neil Gaiman’s urban fantasy novel “American Gods” with plans to adapt it into a TV series.

The 2002 book follows an ex-convict on a cross-country journey through a modern day United States where all the mythological gods and monsters of ancient history have immigrated to.

Gaiman will executive produce. HBO and Playtone partners picked up the property back in 2011, but that incarnation didn’t end up going anywhere.
