Freeform Orders “Siren,” “Sticks,” “Alone”

The nearly month-long TV Network Upfronts summer press tour snuck out its first presentations today with FreeForm being one of the first off the block to make announcements and reveal details of their shows.

Along with the “New Warriors” line-up and the “Cloak and Dagger” trailer which I’ve already reported on, the biggest news was the trailer for “Siren,” a ten-episode mermaid drama series formerly known as “The Deep”.

Alex Roe, Eline Powell, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Ian Verdun, and Rena Owen star in the story of a mysterious girl who arrives in a coastal town that was once home to mermaids according to legend. Soon the battle between man and sea takes a vicious turn as these predatory beings return to reclaim their right to the ocean.

The cable channel also ordered a pilot presentation for its first potential animated series “Sticks” from creator Jessica Stickles. The story would follow a neurotic twenty-something with a deep knowledge of pop culture.

Finally, there’s a trailer for the half-hour, single-camera comedy “Alone Together” about platonic best friends who want nothing more than to be accepted by the vain and status-obsessed culture of Los Angeles.
