Stephen Frears (“The Queen,” “Dangerous Liaisons,” “High Fidelity”) is set to direct a live-action adaptation of the acclaimed graphic novel “Tamara Drewe” reports Variety.
‘Drewe’, created by Posy Simmonds, is a modern reimagining of Thomas Hardy’s classic novel “Far From the Madding Crowd.”
Gemma Arterton (“Quantum of Solace, “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time”) will play Drewe, a sexy flirt who returns to her small country village and stirs up dark passions among the locals.
Dominic Cooper, Roger Allam, Luke Evans, Bill Camp and Tamsin Greig also star. Moira Buffini has penned the script adaptation.
Shooting kicks off September 21st at Pinewood Studios in the UK.
