Rabbit Bandini Productions has optioned the rights to “The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room” by actor Greg Sestero which deals with the 2003 micro budget cult film “The Room” which some call the worst movie ever made (fans of “Birdemic: Shock and Terror” may disagree).
Sestero co-wrote the film with Tommy Wiseau who directed, produced and financed the film. Sestero also starred in the movie as Wiseau’s best friend, Mark. Self-released only in Southern California, word-of-mouth spread and it quickly became a cult midnight show regular due to its terrible acting, bad production values and gaping plot holes.
Franco will direct and co-produce the book adaptation from a script by Ryan Moody. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will produce and it’s likely James and Dave will take on key roles onscreen.
James Franco’s has optioned book and life rights to The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, the book published last fall by Simon & Schuster from actor Greg Sestero and journalist Tom Bissell. franco
