Australian actress Frances O’Connor (“A.I.: Artificial Intelligence,” “The Conjuring 2”) has scored the female lead in the pilot for Hulu’s film adaptation of the Joe Hill comic “Locke and Key” for Hulu.
O’Connor will portray family matriarch Nina Locke, who moves her three children to Maine after her husband is brutally murdered. They arrive at Keyhouse, an unlikely New England mansion with fantastic doors that transform all who dare to walk through them.
It is also home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all.
Carlton Cuse (“Lost,” “Bates Motel”) is set to executive produce and showrun the series. Andres Muschietti (“IT,” “Mama”) will direct the pilot and will also executive produce alongside Cuse, Hill, Ted Adams, David Ozer, David Alpert and Rick Jacobs.
An attempt at a TV adaptation took place before in 2010 with another Australian actress, “Annabelle Creation” star Miranda Otto, in the lead role.
