Mackenzie Foy (“The Nutcracker and the Four Realms”) and Oscar-winner Kate Winslet have signed on to star in a new adaptation of Anna Sewell’s classic children’s novel “Black Beauty”.
Foy plays a 17-year-old girl whose bond with the titular wild horse helps her overcome the death of her parents. Winslet will voice Black Beauty’s inner thoughts.
Ashley Avis (“Adolescence”) will helm and is adapting the script herself while Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer will produce.
The property has been adapted multiple times for film and television, most recently in 1994 with Sean Bean and David Thewlis along with Alan Cumming as the voice of the horse.
