20th Century Fox has shuffled its late 2011 schedule with “Rise of the Apes”, its planned reboot/prequel of the ‘Apes’ franchise, moved back to a Summer slot reports Variety.
‘Apes’ will now be unleashed August 5th, three months earlier than the December 9th date it had settled on a few weeks ago. The film has been shuffled about quite a bit, originally slated for June 24th before a delay to Thanksgiving and then December 9th.
Fox’s thinking is to line up ‘Apes’ as the last of the Summer event films. The studio previously had the Sam Rockwell and Jonah Hill comedy “The Sitter” in that release slot but have now pulled that.
