Fox Set To Revamp “In Living Color”

Fox has ordered two half-hour specials which could serve as a backdoor pilot for a revamp of the 90’s sketch comedy series “In Living Color”.

The specials will air during the network’s anniversary celebration of the show mid-season. Series creator Keenen Ivory Wayans will return as host and should it go well, expect an all new cast for the new version.

The series ran for five seasons in the early 90’s and launched the careers of the likes of Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans, David Alan Grier and Jamie Foxx. One of the backup dancers for the between skit segments was Jennifer Lopez. It’s presently not known if any other original cast members will return for cameos.

Unlike other sketch comedy series up until that point, this one had a predominantly African-American cast and featured various memorable recurring sketches such as two highly effeminate gay film critics, child abusing birthday performer Homey the Clown and Carrey’s over-testosteroned female exercise instructor Vera Di Milo.
