Fox Scores Vamp Killing “Abraham Lincoln”

20th Century Fox has acquired the film rights to the Seth Grahame-Smith graphic novel “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” according to Variety.

As previously reported, “Wanted” director Timur Bekmambetov will direct while Tim Burton will produce the $69 million budgeted 3D feature which is already in pre-production.

The story posits that Lincoln’s mother was killed by a vampire, igniting a passion to kill the creatures. As a result the U.S. President is a highly trained hunter set out on a path of revenge that will take him all the way to the White house.

Grahame-Smith will adapt the script himself and shooting kicks off sometime next year for a release in 2012. Jim Lemley will also produce.
