Fox Resets “Martian,” “Peculiars,” “Paper” Dates

20th Century Fox is shifting around its release schedule with three films being affected.

The big announcement is that the Ridley Scott ‘mystery project’ has been moved up from March 4th 2016 to November 25th 2015. It will indeed be the Drew Goddard-penned adaptation of Andy Weir’s novel “The Martian” rather than the “Prometheus” sequel as previously rumored.

Matt Damon plays an astronaut who is stranded on a Martian colony and struggles to survive. Back on Earth, NASA tries to mount a rescue mission.

As a result of the shift, the Tim Burton-directed “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiars” has been bumped from a July 31st 2015 to that now vacant March 4th 2016 date. It’s not an unexpected move as Burton is committed to filming “Big Eyes” before ‘Peculiars’.

Fox isn’t giving up that July 31st 2015 date either, slotting in the film adaptation of Josh Green’s “Paper Towns” on that date. Following this Summer’s success of Green’s “The Fault In Our Stars,” the studio undoubtedly has high hopes for the project.
