20th Century Fox has acquired feature film rights to Pulitzer winning journalist David William’s 2011 book “The Mirage Man” about the search for the anthrax killer who terrorized America immediately post-9/11.
Anthrax-laced letters began showing up in a New Jersey mailbox to media and financial figures in New York, Florida and D.C. as the country was still reeling from the 9/11 terror attacks.
The FBI zoned in on a microbiologist named Bruce Ivins, who was patenting an anti-anthrax vaccine. He was finally apprehended after the wrong man, a scientist who specialized in biowarfare preparedness, was pegged as the prime suspect.
Steve Zaillian and Cybill Lui will produce.
