20th Century Fox is closing a deal with Hasbro for a live-action film based on the famed toy brand Play-Doh. Hasbro, Chernin Entertainment and Feigco are teaming to produce the project.
“Bridesmaids” and “Spy” helmer Paul Feig is negotiating to direct the film, while Jason Micallef will pen the script. Hasbro reportedly approach Feig and Chernin and they spent a long time coming up with a take for a feature, and then handed the work over to Micallef.
Play-Doh is of course multi-colored blobs of clay, with over two billion cans of it having been sold over the years. How a narrative will be weaved out of it, we’ll have to wait and see.
