Fox is moving forward with a straight-to-series order for the ancient Egypt-set action series “Hieroglyph” from 20th Century Fox Television and Chernin Entertainment.
The thirteen episode drama follows a notorious thief plucked from prison to serve the Pharaoh. In the process, he must navigate palace intrigue, seductive concubines, criminal underbellies and divine sorcerers.
Travis Beacham (“Pacific Rim”) is penning the script, while Peter Chernin, Katherine Pope and Miguel Sapochnik will serve as executive producers. Sapochnik (“Repo Man”) will helm the pilot which will begin production early next year.
That’s the third series in recent months that Fox has ordered straight to series following the Batman prequel “Gotham,” Tina Fey’s new Fire Island-set comedy, and a comedy from John Mulaney.
