When director Darren Aronofsky dropped out of “The Wolverine” a few days ago, 20th Century Fox said in a statement that they planned to “regroup and move forward aggressively” to find a potential replacement.
However Entertainment Weekly reports that the studio isn’t moving as fast as you might expect with both the departure and the recent disasters in Japan, where the film is to be both primarily shot and set, grinding momentum to a temporary halt.
Their source says “I think we’re going to let it air out a bit before we approach another director. The one good thing, after losing Darren and what’s going on in Japan, is that we have a great script and the star attached and ready to go.”
Their source adds that there is no short list of directors being considered at this point in time.
