FOX has cancelled its supernatural drama series “Sleepy Hollow” after four seasons. The show was one of the few remaining on the bubble titles at the network, with the decision expected to come down to either it or “Rosewood” surviving.
‘Hollow’ had the best bet as it has a bigger fanbase and more overseas sales potential. When “Rosewood” was canned yesterday, that looked like ‘Hollow’ may survive – alas it wasn’t meant to be.
‘Hollow’ has had a curious history on FOX. The first season was both a critical favorite and a breakout hit, but the show then suffered a critical sophomore slump from which it never really recovered. The most recent season served as a minor reboot that didn’t work as viewership plummeted 40%.
