Since the first reveal of “10 Cloverfield Lane” two years ago, it was quickly realised that any sci-fi original feature in development at J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot production company was likely to become a future “Cloverfield” film.
That’s how it was figured that Julius Onah’s “God Particle” would be the third film in the series a long time ago, and lo and behold that’s turned out to be the case with the film (likely going by the name “Cloverfield Station” now) rumored to be releasing its first trailer this week thanks to Netflix.
One that has also been under suspicion as well is Julius Avery’s “Overlord”. That film takes place just before D-Day as several American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission. As they approach their target, it becomes clear there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation with supernatural forces coming into play.
Jovan Adepo, Bokeem Woodbine and Wyatt Russell star in the film and Screen Rant reports it has already completed production and for now is sticking to its October 26th release – meaning we could get two “Cloverfield” films this year. Whether the fourth will go out via Netflix, like the third is reportedly intending to, is unclear.
