Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Chastain and Amanda Seyfried are all said to be under consideration to play Hillary Clinton in the forthcoming indie biopic “Rodham” at Temple Hill Entertainment.
The 2012 Black List script by South Korean screenwriter Young Il Kim is set during the height of the Watergate scandal in the 1970s. At the time, Hillary Rodham was the youngest lawyer chosen for the House Judiciary Committee to Impeach Nixon.
She soon finds herself forced to choose between a destined path to the White House, and her unresolved feelings for former boyfriend and Arkansas law teacher Bill Clinton.
James Ponsoldt helms the project and said: “They’re all wonderful actresses. We’re very fortunate that a lot of really great actors are interested in playing these roles. We’re in an enviable position.”
Richard Arlook, Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen are producing.
