Though a financial dud, the SNL-skit based comedy feature “MacGruber” starring Will Forte and Kristen Wiig has earned a cult following that anxiously awaits a sequel. A while back Forte says those involved want to do it, but it’s a matter of timing more than anything now.
The actor, out doing promotional rounds for the new FOX comedy series “The Last Man on Earth” tells The Wrap:
“It seems like we have a realistic shot at getting it made. We have a loose outline of the first couple of acts, which we’re really excited about. So we’ve just got to flesh it out a little more… If [The Last Man on Earth] were to ever be successful enough to get a second season, we’d probably have to wait until after that season to make it. If the show isn’t successful enough to do that, we’d probably jump in right away.
The comments follow on from some made by Ryan Phillippe last year who similarly indicated the film is coming together and suggested the movie’s villain will surprise people. “The Last Man on Earth” meanwhile premieres tomorrow on FOX.
