The launch of the third and final trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” on Monday has been an online ratings success with the Youtube official trailer pulling in 28 million views as of writing.
Deadline reports that, according to number crunch firm RelishMIX, the trailer managed an impressive 23 million+ views in its first day across multiple platforms including Facebook and multiple Youtube accounts.
However, they also confirm that it puts the trailer behind record holder – the first trailer for “Furious 7”. That F7 clip notched up a whopping 100 million views on Facebook alone in its first 48 hours, not to mention many millions more on its Youtube channel.
‘Force Awakens’ however also had the benefit of a simultaneous TV premiere, and the result had a visible impact on ratings. The trailer premiered during primetime NFL with the broadcast earning a 9.6 rating in Live+Same Day – up 13% on last week. More importantly though was that in the 15 minutes before the trailer premiere, and right through until it ended, that rating jumped to an 11.7.
For those who can’t get enough of that trailer, here’s some more details for you. First up, you can hear the isolated music track for the trailer on Youtube. Next, Disney Insider confirms that the voiceover you hear for much of the trailer is that of Lupita Nyong’o character Maz Kanata.
