Even though it has been available in home video formats for some time, J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has only just fully wrapped up its run in cinemas and the final box-office tallies have been calculated.
Box Office Mojo reports that the film made $936.7 million domestially and $2.07 billion worldwide. Around the globe it finished up in third behind “Avatar” and “Titanic” which earned $2.78 billion and $2.19 billion respectively, but well ahead of Universal’s “Jurassic World” which comes in fourth with $1.67 billion.
Domestically though it is easily the number one film of all time, well ahead of Avatar’s $760 million in second place while the other two aforementioned films hover just over the $650 million mark in third and fourth place.
The film is now out on pretty much every video format there is.
