Marquis Rodriguez (“Marvel’s Iron Fist”), John Simm (“Doctor Who”), Richard McCabe (“Peaky Blinders”), John Heffernan (“Ripper Street”) and Dixie Egerickx (“The Little Stranger”) have all been cast in HBO’s “Game of Thrones” prequel pilot.
S.J. Clarkson will helm the episode with the five joining already announced regulars Naomi Watts, Josh Whitehouse, Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp and Toby Regbo.
Jane Goldman and George R.R. Martin created the spin-off set thousands of years before the events of ‘Thrones’ and chronicling the world’s descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. Goldman is serving as showrunner and will executive produce alongside Martin.
The news comes as HBO has announced “The Last Watch,” a two-hour documentary about the making of the final season of “Game of Thrones,” will premiere May 26th – one week after the series finale.
For a year, acclaimed British filmmaker Jeanie Finlay was embedded on the set of the hit series and chronicled the creation of the show’s most ambitious and complicated season.
