20th Century Fox are making it quite clear in the film’s promotional materials that Colin Firth is set to return for Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming action sequel “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” despite the apparent fate of his character Harry Hart in the previous film “Kingsman: The Secret Service”.
Firth is now out doing promotional rounds for “Bridget Jones’s Baby” and spoke with Cinema Blend this morning who saved their final question to ask him about the ‘Kingsman’ follow-up and if there was a notable difference in the atmosphere on the film’s set. Firth responded with his usual dry wit, slyly dancing around and yet at the same time answering the question:
“I’m going to do everything I can to creatively deflect your question. It’s no secret that I have some involvement with it, but I think it would be a pity to get too specific about what that is. I can tell you, yes, I’ve been on the set, and there is an extraordinary atmosphere where I think nothing is going to be obvious to anybody. I think Matthew Vaughn’s outrageousness and the way he likes to subvert people’s expectations, it’s very, very much alive. This is not a stretching out of the stuff from the first movie. It’s going to be a complete and utter… I’m optimistic that it’s going to be extraordinary, and utterly its own thing.”
Taron Egerton, Mark Strong and Edward Holcroft return from the first film and are joined by Pedro Pascal, Julianne Moore and Halle Berry in this mostly American-set follow-up which opens next year.
