First Trailer: Waititi’s “Wellington Paranormal” Series

Fans of “What We Do in the Shadows” should be ready to celebrate with the release of the series trailer for “Wellington Paranormal,” the spin-off TV series from that 2014 mockumentary feature from its original creators Taika Waititi (“Thor: Ragnarok”) and Jemaine Clement (“Flight of the Conchords”).

Mike Minogue and Karen O’Leary reprise their roles of a pair of paranormal cops who are focused not just on vampires this time but other supernatural activity in New Zealand’s capital with the pair taking to the streets to investigate ghosts, demonic possession and werewolves.

Maaka Pohatu also stars as Sgt. Ruawai Maaka, while Clement and Waititi are expected to reprise their roles as Vladislav and Viago. The series debuts on TVNZ on July 11th and is currently without a television home in the US.

The project is different from the US TV remake of “What We Do in the Shadows” which is coming to FX and stars former “The IT Crowd” star Matt Berry. The ten-episode first season of that is set to debut Spring 2019.
