First Trailer: Tom McCarthy’s “13 Reasons Why”

Netflix has released a trailer and set a March 31st premiere date for “13 Reasons Why,” their upcoming series adaptation of Jay Asher’s New York Times best-selling novel.

The thirteen episode series unfolds over dual narratives and follows teenager Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) as he returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch.

Inside he discovers cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford), his classmate and crush, who tragically committed suicide two weeks earlier. On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life.

Kate Walsh, Brain D’Arcy, Derek Luke, Brandon Flynn, Justin Prentice, Alisha Boe, Christian Navarro, and Tommy Dorfman co-star. “Spotlight” helmer Tom McCarthy directs and Pulitzer Prize Winner Brian Yorkey pens the project which sports Selena Gomez, Joy Gorman and Brian Yorkey as executive producers.
