First Trailer: “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.”

After years of trying to get it off the ground, Warner Bros. Pictures is finally getting its film adaptation of the classic 1960s TV series “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” into cinemas in August.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, the film has taken the smart path of keeping its 1960s Cold War setting and telling an origin story for agents Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill) and Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer), the result being a film that feels like an action/comedy spoof of 1960s Bond films.

The visuals certainly show off Ritchie’s flair and it’s a fun cast, but there’s bound to be debates about the accents and the comedy, particularly Henry Cavill’s bantering.
