The first trailer has been released for what could be one of the big awards contenders next year – Derek Ciafrance’s film adaptation of M.L. Stedman’s acclaimed period novel “The Light Between Oceans” from DreamWorks and Disney.
Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander play a couple manning a lighthouse on the West Australian coast following the end of the First World War. The pair find a baby adrift at sea and adopt it. Much later, as the baby has grown into a young girl, they learn that the child’s mother (Rachel Weisz) may still be alive.
Boasting talent like composer Alexandre Desplat, cinematographer Adam Arkapaw, and producer David Heyman, the film hits on the Labor Day holiday weekend.
