The first trailer has arrived for “Swinging Safari,” the new comedy from “The Adventures of Priscilla” and “A Few Best Men” director Stephan Elliott and, even by his standards, it’s utterly bonkers.
Guy Pearce, Kylie Minogue, Radha Mitchell, Julian McMahon, Asher Keddie, Jeremy Sims and Jack Thompson star in the story set in a small Australian town during the 1970s when a 200-ton blue whale gets washed up on a local beach. At the same time the adults of the town finally get to experience the sexual revolution.
Cue a ton of jokes about swingers parties, teens hooking up, some very Australia-specific humor (such as the ice cream tubs to ward off magpies jokes) and lots and LOTS of bad hair and fashion. Sadly the project seems to have dumped the original and more interesting working title of “Flammable Children”.
“Swinging Safari” opens in Australia on January 11th 2018.
