First Trailer: Roland Emmerich’s “Stonewall”

Taking a break from big action movies like “Independence Day,” “Stargate,” “The Day After Tomorrow” and “2012,” filmmaker Roland Emmerich has turned his attention towards a smaller scale drama for his next effort “Stonewall”.

Written by Jon Robin Baitz (“Brothers & Sisters”), the film deals with the true events surrounding the 1969 riots outside of New York’s Stonewall Inn after police raided the famous gay and transgender bar. Said fight gave rise to the gay rights movement not just in the U.S. but around the world.

Jeremy Irvine, Jonny Beauchamp, Caleb Landry Jones, Joey King, Karl Glusman, Vlademir Alexis, Alexandre Nachi, Matt Craven, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and Ron Perlman all star in the film which gets a Toronto premiere ahead of a late September release.
